PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY – Part Two: Lightning Strike!

The groundwork for this discussion was first posted on Saturday, December 17, 2011 as "TREE OF LIFE – Perfect Law of Liberty". Please refer to that post before reading this one.

The perfect law of liberty is a comprehensive fulfillment of Mosaic law in the two commandments described by Jesus within Mat 22:36-40:

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Liberty in Christ describes freedom from spiritual death through right relationship with God, by faith and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit Who dwells in the hearts of believers. It most certainly does NOT describe the twisted paths of excessive "personal liberty" that characterize the conversation (lifestyles) of wicked mankind. Without the fruit of the Spirit there is no perfection, only a long slow deterioration of morality and character that ultimately ends in an accelerating spiral of decay, similar to an aerial crash and burn. Jesus said, "I saw Satan fall like lightning." He was describing to the disciples that their hearts were experiencing a sinful type of joy. They were not being mindful of the source of their authority. (Luke 10:17-20)

Satan fell like lightning because he tried to exalt himself above God. Prior to that he had been the "anointed cherub who covers", but then iniquity was found in him. By the multitude of his merchandise he became filled with violence. (Eze 28:14-16) He chose to ignore the true source of his authority and focused on material gratification. This eventually led him to outright rebellion and an attempt to wage war on heaven.

(Rom 3:3-6) What follows is my interpretation, clearly labeled as such:

As the fallen angel attempted to approach the Ancient of Days Who is infinite light, his own darkness gathering in his heart slowed him to a standstill, as God is light and no darkness may exist in Him. (1John 1:5) Then spiritual gravity took him and slammed him back into the surface of the earth like a meteorite! The Presence of the Self-Existent One was all sufficient to repel him with the same potential energy that was stored up by the momentum of his own wicked imaginations! The impact would have driven him deep beneath the surface of the earth, creating a superheated mass of molten rock: a lake of fire. The resulting devastation of this impact thrust the planet into the chaos and confusion described in Genesis 1:2. This age will end with full restoration when Christ comes and redeems the earth from its fallen state.
