Psalms 20 KJV

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

1. The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; [a] the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;

[a] The Tribulation (Jer. 30:7).

2. Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;

3. Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.

4. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.

5. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: [5] the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

[b] Second Advent (Psa. 60:4; Isa. 13:2).

6. Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

7. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

8. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. [1]

[1] None of the verse has been fulfilled literally yet. Throughout the Psalms, the reader is constantly put into the following positions: 1) make a liar out of the Holy Spirit and reject what the text says, 2) spiritualize the passage and make it figurative so that it applies to a generation that it does not fit, or 3) place the verse prophetically in the future in the Tribulation and the Second Advent when God will fulfill it literally to the letter. Count on the scholars to pick the first two and cut their spiritual jugular veins in the process.

9. Save, LORD: [2] let the king hear us when we call.

[2] This was the cry of a Jewish woman spectator at the UN vote to accept Israel as a State in 1948. The Hebrew word for “Save, LORD” is the word for Joshua and Hosea. The New Testament word is Jesus (Israel: A Deadly Piece of Dirt, pp. 348-350).
