RRB notes on Psalm 91

Psalms 91 KJV

1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High [a] shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome [b] pestilence. [c]

[b] “Noisome” (הַוּוֹת), archaic English meaning “very evil or bad in the sense of a calamity” (see Rev. 16:2).

[c] Vss. 3-10 are the judgments that will take place during the Tribulation (Rev. 8-19).

4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: [d] his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. [e]

[e] A bear trap for Charismatics (see note on Psa. 2:8).

11. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. [1] [f]

[1] Satan quotes verses 11-12 in Luke 4:10-11. He follows the pattern laid out by the 233 corrupt English “Bibles” from the Alexandrian text. Satan omits four words from the verse. By a wild “coinky-dinky,” all the new “Bibles” took the six words out of the same context (Luke 4). Omissions are the standard hallmark of corrupt scholarship.

12. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13. Thou [2] shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon [g] shalt thou trample under feet.

[2] In verses 11-16, the “thee” of verses 3-9 becomes a reference to Jesus Christ. Now, if you want to get a spiritual blessing, take verses 14-16 and put your name everywhere that “he” or “him” appears. You can do this according to John 1:16.

[g] 1 Pet. 5:8; Isa. 27:1. (JD note: Rom. 16:20).

14. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Note on Psa. 2:8 KJV

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [6] [e]

[6] John Paton, the great missionary to the New Hebrides Islands, claimed this verse for his ministry. That’s fine if God is willing to honor it when you apply it to win souls, but the verse has nothing to do with anybody getting saved or converted.  It has to do with Jesus Christ establishing a military dictatorship over the remnants of the United Nations during the Millennium. What is written takes precedence over what you think or feel.

[c] Satan omits “in all thy ways” from Psa. 91:11 (see note on Gen. 3:2).

Note on Gen. 3:2 KJV

And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [2]

[2] Notice, the first sin committed on this earth was not partaking of “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” The first sin on this earth was committed by a woman; it was a Bible-reviser’s move. She subtracted from the text. In verse 2, she omits the word “freely” and misquotes God (see Gen. 2:16-17). This warns all Bible believers in the future that the way you mark Bible correctors is mainly by omissions; hence, the peculiar (and asinine) teaching of the Scholar’s Union that a scribe will always tend to add more in copying than he will tend to omit. That is the epitome, or acme, of “flaming ignorance.”

After subtracting from the word of God, then Eve adds (in verse 3) the word “touch,” which is not in the original commission (see Gen. 2:16-17). Satan never questions the “principles,”  fundamentals, or the “main teachings” of the Bible. He questions what God said and perverts the words of God by subtracting and adding to them. Men are lost by believing a lie; they are saved by believing the truth.

The devil questions the words of God, and then denies their severity (vss. 4-5). “Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” This is the origin of all corruption. We call it “higher Christian education” or “higher secular education.” Both institutions of learning (anywhere in the earth) are dedicated to one proposition: that there is no absolute truth, all truth is relative, and you can become like God by becoming smart (see App. 106).

For the New Testament comment by the greatest Christian that ever lived, read carefully Colossians 2:8 and 1 Timothy 6:20; but make sure you have a King James Bible, or you will not find the reading that you need in those two texts.
